Kile joined the meeting at 6:35 PM Young joined the meeting at 6:37 PM Ruth Patchett entered the meeting at 6:37 PM There being no comments from the public the Public Hearing adjourned at 6:39 PM. Present: Brown, Freebairn, Hales, Hutchinson, Kile, Means, Young Absent: None Others Present: Superintendent Lewis, Principal Hettmansberger, Gary Henry, Terry Sullivan, Ruth Patchett, Jacob Roskovensky, Barb Board President Means welcomed everyone to the meeting and called for public comment regarding the 2008 Tax Levy. Lori Carroll entered the meeting at 6:47 PM. There being no comments from the public the Public Hearing adjourned at 6:49 PM. Dec 15, 2008 REGULAR MEETING 7:00 pm President Means called the meeting to order. Present: Brown, Freebairn, Hales, Hutchinson, Kile, Means, Young Absent: None Others Present: Superintendent Lewis, Principal Hettmansberger, Gary Henry, Terry Sullivan, Ruth Patchett, Jacob Roskovensky, Jim Motley, Barb Board President Means welcomed everyone to the meeting. Mr. Motley presented the FY08 Audit, noting that a Federal Programs audit was also required this year. Friend of Education Plaque was presented to Lori Carroll. Correspondence: Thank you card from Lesliea Palmer for plant and hospice contribution. Thank you letter from G.O.A.L. for use of facilities. No requests were received to address the Board. Board approved the following Consent Agenda items: Executive Session minutes of November 17, 2008 Regular Meeting minutes of November 17, 2008 Treasurer’s Report Activity Report Resignation of Gary Lewis, Superintendent, effective June 30, 2009, with regrets Employment of Meagan Daugherty, Second Grade Teacher–Third Quarter; Doug Hageman, HS Softball Coach; Adam Rosenbery, JH Boys & Girls Track Coach; Amanda Smith, JH Volleyball Assistant Coach 403B Plan Proposal Beth Harbaugh entered the meeting at 7:31 PM. Board approved payment of bills. Principal’s report: 3-12 Winter Concert was Tuesday Dec. 9- Great job! Performance was very, very well attended. Crowd was more respectful to the performers by not coming and going during the performance. Congratulations to FFA – 1st place Section Computer Contest. Congratulations Kolton Hodgson – Kolton won first place overall at FFA Section Computer Contest. Not only did he win, but he won by a considerable margin. Newman Winter Music Concert will be December 18th at 1:30 at Newman Grade School. This should be an afternoon of good entertainment. When school resumes on January 6, 2009, he will be losing his hair thanks to the Junior Class fundraiser. Superintendent’s report: Still looking for an ECP head football coach. Talking with Villa Grove about partnering for several Federal Grants. Looking into geo-thermal green grants. Is still trying to get a representative from the pipeline that was recently put in north of the Shiloh building to do a presentation to students. Board approved the 2008 Tax Levy Means commented that he had picked up the staff surveys and Hutchinson will put together a summary to be presented at the next meeting. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:51 PM.
