Consent
Agenda Items and Bills were approved by the Board.
Transportation/Maintenance
and Administrative Team Reports were given.
The Board
presented Friend of Education awards to Conservation Police
Captain Dan Brown and Bernie Baxter of Pizza Man.
The Board
approved the 2002 Tentative Levy. There will be less funds coming
to the District next year from this years tax.
The Board
approved December 16, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. for the Truth in Taxation
Hearing. This is being done as a courtesy.
The School
Report Cards were approved and may be viewed on the districts
web site.
A tax referendum
was discussed. At this time, the Board feels that this is not
an option they wish to pursue.
The possibility
of co-oping all high school sports with Heritage was discussed.
Heritage Superintendent will ask the Heritage Board to see if
they have any interest co-oping all high school sports. Low
sports participation was also discussed, especially with the
High School Girls Basketball team.
Junior High
Cheerleading was discussed. Next year there will 14 conflicts
between cheerleading, basketball and volleyball. There are many
games were there are only 1-2 girls trying to cheer because
the other cheerleaders are at a sport event. What to do? Cancel
Jr. High Cheerleading or have girls make a choice between cheerleading
or a sport?
Ms. Derby
presented information to the Board of Education. Ms. Derby gathered
this information for a class project she was doing. The information
gathered came from local school districts: Kansas, Oakland,
Heritage, Chrisman, Crestwood, Jamaica and Shiloh. This data
was compiled and used to design a school. This data could be
used to look at a co-operative or county high school.
Reorganization
committee will meet next week. The committee is looking into
what other schools are doing.

Conference is this Thursday through Sunday.
